Body, Mind, Consciousness.

A short post to review the three parts of your human being and how to take care of them to live your best life.

Your Body

You are not your body, but you do have to live in it. Your body is the home of your mind and your consciousness throughout your human existence and because of this, it’s important to look after it. You are not a number on a scale or a dress size. You deserve to live in a body that feels comfortable and clean and to achieve this, you need to ensure that you eat well, sleep well and stay connected to how your body is feeling. Our emotions are felt in the body and are important signals of our state. Our senses are one of the greatest gifts that we have and can bring so much joy if we focus our awareness as we smell, taste, touch and hear the world around us. Rejoice in the strength of your body as you go for a run, savour every morsel of a delicious meal, marvel at the kaleidoscope colours that you can see with your perfectly designed human eye. Your body is so amazing; treat it that way. Make your body a home that you want to live in.

Your Mind

You are also not your mind, but you do have to live with it. The majority of our suffering is done in the past or the future. Relief from this suffering can be found in your presence.  Are you OK right now? Are you in immediate danger? Most of the time, the answer is ‘no’. So; you’re OK.  I know that it’s hard not to worry, particularly about those that we love and their future but ‘worrying is like praying for things that you don’t want’. Most of the bad things that will happen to us will likely have never crossed your worried mind, so let it go. Be free to focus all of that energy on building your resilience. ‘Energy flows where your attention goes’. Once you are resilient, you will be able to bounce back from life’s challenges – whatever they may be.

Your Consciousness

You are a spiritual being having a human experience. Your consciousness links you to every other thing in this universe. Your consciousness is the witness to the thoughts that cross your mind. Marianne Williamson says ‘We are not material beings limited to the physical body, but beings of consciousness limited by nothing. Like waves in the ocean or sunbeams to the sun, there is actually nowhere where one of us stops and another one starts. On the level of bodies, we’re all separate of course. But on the level of consciousness, we are one.’ This part of you is perfect, unaffected by your human suffering, infinite and pure. When you are connected to your consciousness, it’s easier to gain perspective on your suffering.
